Method

Every figure, and how it is computed.

A proof is only worth something if the reader can check the arithmetic behind it. This page is that arithmetic, in full, and it is the page every badge and profile links to.

01

What we read

Four reads, with a restricted key that can only read: charges, subscriptions, customers, and the account’s own name and URL. We read nothing else. We cannot create a charge, issue a refund, change a price or touch a customer, because the key does not allow it.

Charges are read from the first day of the month twelve months back. We page through up to 600 records per resource; accounts larger than that are beyond the persona this is built for, and we would rather say so than quietly truncate a figure without telling you.

02

MRR

MRR is the sum of every active subscription, normalised to one month. A monthly price counts once. A yearly price is divided by twelve. A weekly price is multiplied by 52 and divided by twelve, a daily price by 365 and divided by twelve. Quantities multiply. An interval count of three months divides by three.

A percentage coupon reduces that subscription by its percentage. A fixed coupon is subtracted, never below zero. Subscriptions in any status other than active, meaning trialing, past due, canceled, unpaid or incomplete, contribute nothing.

03

ARR

ARR is MRR multiplied by twelve. Nothing more. It is not a forecast, it does not model churn or expansion, and it should not be read as a prediction of next year’s revenue.

04

Revenue and growth

Revenue is money actually collected, by calendar month in UTC, net of refunds: each charge counts as its amount minus the amount refunded. Failed and uncaptured charges count for nothing.

Growth compares the last full calendar month of collected revenue against the month before it. The current, incomplete month is never used, because a comparison against a half-finished month is meaningless. If there are not two full months of revenue, growth reads as a dash rather than a number.

If an account collects in more than one currency, the majority currency is the reporting currency and revenue in other currencies is excluded from the monthly series. We do not invent exchange rates.

05

Customers

Active customers is the number of distinct customers with at least one active subscription. A customer with three subscriptions counts once. New customers is the number of customers created in your Stripe account in the last 30 days. One-off buyers with no subscription are not counted as active customers, and they do not contribute to MRR.

06

MRR history

We do not reconstruct historical MRR, because a single read of Stripe cannot show what your subscriptions looked like eighteen months ago without guessing. So the MRR history chart is built from our own syncs: one point per calendar month, from the month you connected. Collected revenue, by contrast, is genuinely historical and comes straight from your charges. A profile with one month of history says so instead of drawing a flat line.

07

Freshness

Every figure carries the timestamp of the read that produced it. You can sync at any time from the dashboard. After 48 hours without a successful read, the profile and every installed badge switch to Stale, keep the last figure visible and marked, and the company drops out of our Live verified proofs count. We never silently freeze a number, and we never keep publishing one that is no longer backed by a read.

08

What is verified, what is declared

Anything computed from Stripe is labelled Verified with the time it was last read, and cannot be typed in or edited. Anything the founder writes themselves, a description or a site URL, is labelled Declared and is never verified by us. If a declared URL does not match the URL on the Stripe account, the profile says so and lets you judge.

09

What we do not claim

We are not an auditor. We verify what the connected Stripe account reports, at the moment we read it. We do not see revenue outside that account, we do not detect a founder running fake charges through their own cards, and we do not assess whether a business is solvent, profitable or sustainable.

What a proof means is narrow and worth stating precisely: on this date, this Stripe account had these active subscriptions and had collected this much money. That is far more than a screenshot, and less than a set of accounts.

10

Your key, and your data

The restricted key is encrypted before it is stored, and it is only ever used for the four reads above. If a read fails because you revoked it, we record the failure, mark the proof stale and stop. Revoking the key in Stripe is always the final word.

We store the computed figures, not your customers. No customer name, email, card or invoice line ever leaves your Stripe account through us. Free profiles publish 3 months of revenue history. Delete a company and every figure we synced for it is deleted with it.

If a figure on your profile ever looks wrong against this page, that is a bug and we want to know.
